Smyrna, June 15. - The funeral of James Lthrem, the white man who was murdered at Clayton on Saturday night by Edward Brown, colored, took place yesterday. Undertaker William Farries, of this town, took the body to the home of the dead man, near Dulaney’s, where his wife, who has been ill for two weeks, was allowed by her physician to come down stairs an view the body. The scene that followed touched the strongest hearts. There are seven children in the family, the oldest being but fourteen and the youngest a two-week-old babe. The funeral was largely attended, mostly by men of Lethrem’s acquaintance.

Internment was made at Blackinston’s Cemetery.
